“With forever, I can be me. With forever, I can be free.”

I remember when I started my blog in 2011. Fifteen years!!!!! Fifteen years have flown by, and it’s been a beautiful, worthwhile journey. I remember being in Los Angeles, and getting to a point where I couldn’t stand being there. There was a heaviness upon my shoulders back then that was sucking the life and joy out of me. Fast forward to now, I feel light enough to float in happiness. Home is where the heart is, and I’m truly at home. I’m where I’m meant to be. I published my poem Forever on July 30, 2011, when I knew I was definitely moving back to New York for good. I know nothing is forever. Forever with this poem means seizing time and making it mine. Forever means making the most out of the time one has. I wonder what my journey will look like in another fifteen years?

I love Forever

Because Forever pushes me forward.

Helps  me go where I need to go.

Helps  me soar when I need to  fly.

Forever is more than a friend.

Forever is like a savior

That has caught me upon falling.

Is the giver of a second chance.

Forever doesn’t care about mistakes

That I make, or even repeat.

With Forever, I can be me.

With Forever, I can be free.

Forever is like destiny I can hold

Right in my hand.

And upon opening them,

I unleash a world of possibilities.

Blockades of a dream are unheard of.

Forever will never allow it.

I feel like all I have is Forever

And I will not waste precious time.

Afterthoughts: Higher Vibrations

To float amongst the stars

Upon nightfall’s beautiful appearance

Is a feeling like no other.

Night’s shade can mask the day’s troubles

And transform darkness to light.

With head held high And prominent strut,

There’s a beating heart in sync with night’s rhythm.

Every note has the heart and mind in awe.

Every beat speaks of greatness and resiliency.

Sweet melodies written across the sky telling stories left untold.

Night’s shade has awakened the senses

Allowing the body to rise amongst higher vibrations.

Golden

Golden.

A monumental time

For a monumental age.

No celebratory bang.

Not one for playing charades.

Just wrapped in love

Amongst the days delight.

Gratitude ever flowing

As my inner light shines bright.

No need to utter words

Because my actions speak loud.

The reflection I see daily

Is one that I am proud.

50 years of life

With twists and turns

And lessons learned.

Ready for what the Universe unfolds before me now.

Golden.

Numb

Numb from the hurt and pain.

Numb from the target on my head.

Wondering what enemies want to gain?

Shameful to think, “What if I’m next?”

Racism is to blame

For me wondering, if soon,  people will say my name?

But onward I MUST and WILL go.

Home

Where I laid my weary head
Was also where my heart was.
Traveled to some distant places,
In search of someplace all my own.
Peering through the clouds
Of which blinded me so,
Confused was the state of I.
Traveled around the world,
Only to return to my love.
I realize that I was home all along.
